1. Your life is fleeting, so make the most of it
The diligent will surely find success

2. Strive to attain happiness through righteousness
For that is the path of the worthy

3. Prepare provisions for your eventual departure
For the days of your life are but stages

4. Beware of false hopes that often mislead
And cause the unaware dreamer to stumble

5. Pay the maidens no heed as you pass them by
Lest your susceptible heart be caught unaware

6. Repent before old age arrives suddenly
Be it soon or late, it will come without fail

7. How can the heedless hope to attain salvation
When entangled in this world’s flowering snares?

8. Who will save the floundering fool from his ignorance
As he thrashes about in the turbulent tides?

9. Man’s lifespan is but a brief reprieve
While death awaits him like a prowling lion

10. Blessed is he who strives in worship
And cursed is he who is ignorant of asceticism

11. Distracted from Paradise by wantonness
And enticed in old age by flashes of youth

12. God has created him to reject desire
And so turning away consumes him

13. Sincere and trusting in the Sustainer
For God alone is sufficient as Guardian

14. His reputation endures, spread far and wide
Through noble secrets and plaintive tears

15. Distinguished by piety, his heart bound
By awe of the Creator, his body lean

16. Say to the night worshipper, fasting in seclusion,
Reciting God’s Book in his devotions

17. Gladdened by it, though disconsolate and lonely
Your petitions have been granted, leading to salvation

18. Since you have consistently done what is right
And realized that life is but a fleeting shadow

19. Rejoice in Paradise, for it is prepared
As a dwelling place and home for the devout

20. None can escape consequences but one who fears
And is warned by threats of intense punishment

21. O master reciter of the Qur’an, hoping for its reward,
And intercessor for his companions at the place of gathering

22. You have been met by glad tidings of success
And signs of righteousness have appeared upon you

23. Yours is a magnificent share of the reward
And repeating the Wise Reminder brings abundant returns

24. The robe of reward envelops you completely
And the fruits of Paradise are plentiful for you

25. So delight in it, for it is your link
And rely on it, for it is your assured provision
