هنيئا له عادى أعادي إمامه

1. Fortunate is he who opposes the enemies of his leader
Contending, amid the gloom of his clouds.

١. هَنِيئاً لَهُ عَادَى أَعَادِي إِمَامِهِ
مُكَاثَرَةً وَقْعَ الحَيَا مِنْ غَمَامِهِ

2. We sought closeness through generosity and amity,
So one from Syria greeted him before his retinue.

٢. قَصِيّ دَنا مِن مَشْرَعِ الجُودِ والنَّدى
فَحَيَّاهُ شامي الرّيِّ قَبلَ حِيَامِهِ

3. He resolved to rule the kingdom, taking refuge in it,
Trusting he would triumph by remaining steadfast.

٣. وَيَمَّمَ دَارَ المُلْكِ مُعْتَصِماً بِها
عَلَى ثِقَةٍ مِن فَوْزِهِ بِاعْتِصَامِهِ

4. No surprise that on the day of peace
He brought calm to the tumult of time with his accord.

٤. فَلا عَجَبٌ أنْ رَاحَ يَومَ سَلامِهِ
إلَى سِلْمِ دَهْر شَجَّه بسلامِهِ

5. Chivalry guided him to the noble gate –
It recognized him by his journey in amity.

٥. حَدَتْهُ إِلى البَابِ الكَريمِ كَرَامةٌ
تَعَرّفَهَا في سَيْرِهِ بِسَلامِهِ

6. It gave him the highest meadow in his distress
And granted him the sweetest law amid his struggles.

٦. أحَلَّتْهُ أعلَى تُرْعَةٍ بِاضْطِرابِهِ
وَعَلَّتْهُ أحْلَى شِرْعَةٍ في اضْطِرَامِهِ

7. The feats of a Master whose world kneeled before,
And remained until led by his bridle.

٧. صَنَائِعُ مَوْلىً أَصْبَحَ الدَّهْرُ عَبْدَهُ
وأَصْحَبَ حَتَّى قَادَه بِزِمَامِهِ

8. When poetry met her army raging,
His apology sufficed – that he was in retreat.

٨. إِذا الشِّعْرُ لاقَى جَيْشَهَا وهو جائِشٌ
كَفَاهُ اعتِذاراً أَنَّهُ في انْهِزامِهِ

9. Rhymes abstained from faulting him,
And endless are the teardrops when composed.

٩. تكُفُّ القَوافي عَن تَعَرُّضِها لَه
وَهَيْهَاتَ يُحْصَى القَطْرُ عِنْدَ انْسِجامِهِ

10. A cloud of dew, stirred by the wind of his comfort,
With the lightning of his smile radiating joy.

١٠. سَحابُ نَدىً تُزْجِيهِ رِيحُ ارْتِياحِهِ
وَيُغْرِيهِ بالإلْثاثِ بَرْقُ ابْتِسامِهِ

11. He is the auspicious king, in demeanor and state,
To whom the furthest hopes are duty-bound.

١١. هُوَ المَلِكُ المَيْمونُ وَجْهاً وَدَوْلَةً
يدينُ لَه بالقُرْبِ أقْصَى مَرَامِهِ

12. His stable disposition assumed the flag of glory
And rebuilt generosity upon its demise.

١٢. تَلَقَّتْ لِوَاءَ المَجْدِ راحتُهُ التِي
تَوَلَّتْ بِناءَ الجُودِ عِنْدَ انْهِدامِهِ

13. Pure are his roots, honorable his lineage,
With the highest marks of pride as its minarets.

١٣. مُطَهَّرَةٌ أعْراقُهُ عُمَرِيَّةٌ
لَهَا مِنْ سِنَانِ الفَخْرِ أعْلَى سَنَامِهِ

14. His pride in glory and loftiness has a brilliance,
His resolve for religion and life has a radiance.

١٤. عَلى المَجْدِ والعَليْا بَهَاءُ اعتِزازِهِ
وَللدّينِ والدّنْيَا مَضاءُ اعْتِزامِهِ

15. Sufficient are his deeds in disgracing tyrants,
And healing are his words for the sullenness of time.

١٥. يَسُوءُ طُغاةَ الكُفْرِ كافِي فِعالِهِ
ويَأْسُو كُلومَ الدَّهرِ شافِي كَلامِهِ

16. The consequences of what is to come and what remains
Are blamed by those who grasp not his principles.

١٦. عَوَاقِبَ ما يَأتِي وَما هُوَ تَارِكٌ
يَذُمُّ الذِي لَم يَعْتَلِق بِذِمَامِهِ

17. I am sufficed in pride that I am in his presence,
Where even stars receive the palm of his banner.

١٧. كَفَانِي افْتِخاراً أَنَّني مِن جَنابِهِ
بِحَيثُ تَنالُ النجم كَفُّ عُلامِهِ

18. I see in him the full moon without its mysteries,
And observe the sea of generosity without its waves.

١٨. أَرَى مِنْهُ بَدْرَ المُلْكِ دُونَ سِرارِهِ
وأبْصر بَحْرَ الجُودِ غَيْرَ غَرَامِهِ

19. He granted intimacy and protection in hardship and fear.
Behold! I am here, under hisshade and esteem.

١٩. حَبَا وحَمَى في عُسْرَةٍ ومَخافَةٍ
فَها أنا ذا في كَلِّهِ واحْتِرامِهِ

20. I walk clad in his garb, to be granted his land,
Stepping to the edge of his abode, with his sword.

٢٠. أَسيرُ إلَى إقْطاعِهِ في ثِيابهِ
علَى طرْفِهِ مِنْ دارِهِ بِحُسامِهِ
