1. O night of the birth
How sweet was your vigil

2. You healed whoever despaired
As the splendor of your gems shone

3. So God granted you bliss
Among the nights He singled you out

4. The Merciful adorned you
With the light of the sun of mankind

5. Who is he in benevolence
A ruby in the rock

6. The elucidator of confusion
The bearer of the standard and staff

7. Who wards off misfortune
From the marvel of the wondrous religion

8. Of pleasant disposition
Is he who was blessed with strange beauty

9. Eyes lined with kohl
And charm and delight

10. Teeth gleaming
Smiling like pearls

11. Our Prophet related
To those of glorious renown

12. Al-Mustafa, the beloved
Whose love blots out sins

13. Eloquent in speech
Foretelling the unseen

14. Thus the greatest proof
Of his splendor

15. Is that he brought the Qur’an
Which silences all dissenters

16. No being of might
Stood up to the shining discourse

17. Of those eloquent
Poets of rhetoric

18. To parallel it in cadence
Rivalling it in arrangement

19. The Benefactor has protected him
From the insults of all dissenters

20. Does any human
Dare dissent that he was mortal

21. It suffices you of his glory
O you of ear and eye

22. And they were confounded by his purpose
That a spring burst from his right hand

23. Quenching his armies
And what transpired at Hunain

24. When the two hosts clashed
And every deserter fled

25. From the defeat of the tribe of Hawazin
With a handful of pebbles

26. O most ardent of lovers
O best of those graced

27. I pine in my longing
For your fragrant tomb

28. My shackles make me sick
The youth hopes for you

29. To win on the Day of Assembly
The children's hair turned white

30. From its terrible spectacle
Grant your Prophet, O God

31. This wish which gives me relief
Bless Muhammad, O God

32. As long as a star shimmers in night's gloom
As long as one lost in desolation

33. In the night of estrangement wandered
The night of passion expires

34. And love is the soil of vigilance
Patience betrayed me

35. And sleep fled my eye
