1. I sought out Abu Ali, the eminent one,
While the fire of my anguish blazed intensely,

2. At a time when my problems overwhelmed me,
For I was amidst those who wished my demise.

3. And far from my loved ones and kith and kin,
With no abode, wandering ceaselessly,

4. With few who would help me in my faith,
And many aiding my going astray.

5. So I came, hapless and begging urgently,
Burning with all the disgrace that's dogged me.

6. He who enters the sanctuary is safe and sound—
O you who fear not and are unperturbed!

7. Save me, O Pride of Abu Ali!
Rescue me from causes of doom!

8. Shield me, O Shelter of Abu Ali!
And distance me from my woes and worries!

9. Enrich me, O Bounty of Abu Ali!
Free of all save the Lord of Majesty!

10. And unite my clan with my return
To them in repentance and rectitude!
