1. If the cheek's rose is most exquisite in hue,
And serpents encircle it dangling from the temples,

2. And glances' arrows guard against plucking it,
Bearing on the would-be plucker the brand of the temples,

3. Then in plucking the rose of praise, Muhammad's praise
Upon him Allah's blessing, safety from harm,

4. Persist in its plucking; you will prevail over every envier
And attain the utmost you wish and desire.

5. For in its plucking is the plucking of bliss without sorrow,
And the clustering of righteousness' branches from the meadows.

6. So revel in it with the heat of praise gleaming
With the standards aflutter, brilliant in hue.

7. And say, acknowledging incapacity in it, a poem,
Though you be of those with eloquence and talent.

8. For the Wise Remembrance has uttered best in his praise,
And your praise is, in truth, like embroidery to stitchwork.

9. But blessings of God upon him forevermore!
His mention turns the ample into little.

10.
And be humble in addressing his tremendousness,

11. For he is attentive to the one who praises his glory.
If he be lowly, a hearing conveyed;

12. Otherwise, a hearing not coupled to conveyance.
By your station with Allah, O origin of origins,

13. Adam, but for you, would not have won distinction,
And Abu Bakr’s right with you and your daughter,

14. And your beloved Fatima - protect us from every harm!
Give me and my family refuge from your enemies, and water us

15. With a register of favor capacious and free!
Your affection we seek, so lead us to fortune,

16. For that is what we hope for and what we desire.
We have met from the world and its claws misery

17. Like that met by rabble from mastication.
And our ugly sins have changed us in it

18. As dyes alter white clothes in hue.
So save our shame from disgrace, for it

19. Is as abject as the youth with broken limbs.
Blessings of Allah upon you, sent to

20. All mankind, uprooting the urge to condemn!
What a light, your guidance that blotted falsehood,

21. Felling with a blow the head of misguidance!
What praise the Wise Remembrance extols you with,

22. What joy in scriptures' ornamentation with glue!
What bounty from your neighborhood comes from our Lord,

23. What ascension the shining moon makes with ease!
So too the Household, moons of guidance, and Companions

24. Who gutted the enemies of the faith with blows and stings.
They clothed them in blood-red mantles after their brocade,

25. Dyeing them like sheepskins tanned to perfection.
With them they hemmed in beasts entirely for honor,

26. Destroying them, scarcely meat left for chewing.
It painted the horses' anklets, their assemblies,
