1. Is there any youth like a gazelle
Whose breath is cooled in the morning breeze -
١. هَلْ لِصَبٍّ مِنْ لَمَاكَ الْمُزْدَرِي
بِسُلاَفِ الرَّاحْ
2. Whose lips are sweetened with sugar -
Who brings joy and cheer?
٢. رَشَفَاتٌ مُزِجَتْ بِالسُّكَّرِ
تَمْنَحُ الأَفْرَاحْ
3. She tells of the sincerity of precious gems -
Of the wishes of souls -
٣. مَرْوِيَاتٌ عَنْ صِحَاحِ الْجَوْهَرِ
عَنْ مُنَى الأَرْوَاحْ
4. Of the crescent moons of beauty -
Of the erect branches.
٤. عَنْ هِلاَلِ الْحُسْنِ عَنْ ظَبْيِ النَّقَا
عَنْ قَضِيبِ الْبَانْ
5. From the gardens of union I was barred -
Have mercy, oh Most Merciful!
٥. مِنْ جِنَانِ الْوَصْلِ دُونِي أُغْلِقَا
رِقَّ يَارِضْوَانْ
6. Save me from the greatest torment -
Perhaps I will find rest.
٦. وَارْثِ لِي مِنْ ذَا الْعَذَابِ الأَكْبَرِ
فَعَسَى أَرْتَاحْ
7. By that shining, radiant-faced one -
With clear and brilliant teeth -
٧. فَعَلَى ذَاكَ الْمُحَيَّا الأَنْوَرِ
ذِي السَّنَا الْوَضَّاحْ
8. The fragrance of amber is diffused -
As the dawn breaks forth.
٨. مِنْ شَجٍ نَشْرُ سَلاَمٍ عَنْبَرِي
مَا انْبَرَى الإِصْبَاحْ
9. The palm boughs move with the morning breeze
And the moon becomes full -
٩. وَثَنَتْ بَانَ الرُّبَى كَفُّ الصَّبَا
وَشَدَا الْقُمْرِي
10. And my heart flows for the days of youth -
The life of one still tender.
١٠. وَصَبَا قَلْبِي لأَِيَّامِ الصِّبَا
رَيِّقِ الْعُمْرِ
