Gardens taught the army of dew,

ورياض علمت جيش النوار

1. Gardens taught the army of dew,
And adorned its secrets for the absent trains.

١. وَرِيَاضٍ عَلَّمَتْ جَيْشَ النُّوَارْ
وَوَشَتْ أَسْرَارَهَا غِبَّ الْقِطَارْ

2. Its prosperity appeared on the day of mist,
Blossoming in a red attire.

٢. وَبَدَا نُعْمَانُهَا يَوْمَ النَّدَى
يَزْدَهِي فِي حُلَّةٍ ذَاتِ احْمِرَارْ

3. I said, when a barrier prevented its coming -
Water and fire enclosing it.

٣. قُلْتُ لَمَّا صَدَّ عَنْ إِتْيَانِهِ
حَابِسٌ يَكْنُفُهُ مَاءٌ وَنَارْ

4. And the meadow kindled the embers of passion,
And the breeze narrated the tales of the cotter.

٤. وَالرُّبَى تُذْكِي مَجَامِيرَ الشَّذَا
وَالصَّبَا تَرْوِي أَحَادِيثَ الْعَرَارْ

5. O breeze of the garden, if you come to the meadow
Fragrant-tailed, green-belted.

٥. يَا نَسِيمَ الرَّوْضِ إِنْ جِئْتَ الرًّبَى
عَاطِرَ الأَذْيَالِ مُخْضَرَّ الإِزَارْ

6. Convey to the prosperity from me a message -
That my imprisonment and waiting have been long.

٦. أَبْلِغِ النُّعْمَانَ عَنِّي مَأْلُكَا
إِنَّهُ قَدْ طَالَ حَبْسِي وَانْتِظَارْ
