O you by whom the lands were ennobled

1. O you by whom the lands were ennobled
With a radiance devoid of pretense,

2. And whose outskirts were perfumed by his fragrance
And his chivalry became like a banner,

3. Fulfill for Abu Ya'qub what we intended
To send of blossoms from the garden,

4. For our thoughts have become ensnared by longing for him
Perhaps his fragrance will waft with the zephyr,

5. Still you saunter in the coolness of gladness
With glad tidings, smiling gently,

6. And from the son of Zakur sincere greetings
Like sweet jasmine wafting in a garden,

7. More fragrant than lavender, moistened by dew,
Sweeter than a reunion after estrangement,

8. Bearing what the doves of Ayka sang
And the pure nightingales of Qudayb warbled.
