1. Indeed, men who adorned themselves with virtues,
Time adorned them with virtues.

2. The virtues of the guidance of rubies and delight,
These, how superior to the virtues of highness.

3. God clothed them in the garb of guidance,
When the most splendid of appearances met them.

4. And from the benevolence of old, He inspired them,
Thus they extinguished all wickedness.

5. Not to mention a people who cherished nobility,
When they spurned the worldly life like an adulteress.

6. And they surrendered the command to their Creator,
And took His pleasure as their treasure.

7. And they exerted in the matter their full strength,
When abstention from prohibitions eluded them.

8. Their nourishment was the remembrance of their Beloved,
And sometimes they would stand through the night with it.

9. Glory to Him who quenched their thirst with bounty,
With His favor, from which they drank the sweetest water.

10. Glory to Him who, with asceticism, protected them
From involvement with the life of this world without doubt.

11. So the life of this world is stingy, while in
The adornments of the Hereafter they have riches.

12. Thus the life of this world is in their eyes
Like a scorpion that stings, or a snake.

13. The idea of it worries their minds at times
Deserving, in their view, ransom.

14. They yearn for the ruins of their Beloved’s love
With a yearning like that of a gazelle for water.

15. So whoever guards against their love
Attains from the taste of bliss a protection.

16. Ask Allah, through their status, to pluck
Hopes and desires from His mercy.

17. And seek Allah’s pleasure through their rank,
If you have the intention, you will gain through them.

18. Whoever asks Allah through their status,
Allah will accept through them his effort.

19. Verily, asking through their majesty
Turns away total destruction and fines.

20. And asking through their station
Becomes a relief for every grief.

21. And listen to accounts of their miracles
Transmitted from those who have knowledge.

22. Verily, hearing of their virtues
Dresses hearts that have hardened in reverence.

23. Verily, hearing of their outstanding qualities
Uplifts the stricken with ambition.

24. Verily, delighting in their narrations
And rights is among the finest of wishes.

25. Through their status, my Lord, to You
And whoever adorned them when You willed their adornment.

26. Our Prophet, best of creation, came to whom
Gabriel came, as feathers to birds.

27. The most virtuous prayer from You is constant
Upon him—as long as You guide us.

28. He who expressed their attributes
Passed into the Gardens of Al-Firdaws in adornment.

29. Abu Nu`aym—one who reached lofty heights,
Abu Nu`aym—serene in intention.

30. Abu Nu`aym—one who became virtuous
Since Allah beautified him through them.

31. Abu Nu`aym—one in whom nobility resides,
Blessed by the Merciful with vision.

32. And forgive us, O Allah, Creator ours,
What wrongdoing and sin we have committed openly or in secret.

33. And aid the Commander of the Faithful against
Those who intend to oppress them in transgression.

34. And let endure, O Lord, his excellent qualities,
For they are the essence of guidance and purity.

35. And protect him, O Lord, with every beauty,
And quench his thirst from the Basin of Abundance.

36. And grant success, O Allah, to his advisors,
And guide, our Lord, his opinion.

37. And reform the nobility, our masters,
For in their guidance we have need.

38. And inspire in them, O Allah, resolves
As beauty is inspired in gazelles.

39. And the reciter of this ode in melody
That removes hardness from a closed heart.

40. And the composer of poetry on their glory—
Reform them both, and the family and children.

41. Whoever protects the Muslims from harm,
Then shorten for him, our Lord, protection.

42. And whoever is rotten from their hatred and transgressed,
Clothe him, O Lord of Highness, in a shroud.

43. And make the harm of the harmful with his foolishness rebound upon him,
And water him from Your might with the worst of drinks.

44. By the status of the sun of creation, our master
Muhammad, most pure of creation in prohibition.

45. May Allah send blessings upon him as long as
Tears of reverence flow from peoples' eyes.

46. And upon his Family, Companions, and those who follow them,
And whoever is contained in books of virtues.
