Upon their creator remains their veil

2. The sons of Fez, forsake them thus they
Prosper, those who forsake them

3. Their mingling defiles dignity
And talking ruins the faith, their company

4. They show welcome, though it contains naught
But evil, those who accompany them

5. Their facade is honest and pure
Yet evil is what their taster desires

6. They have nothing but hypocrisy as sweetmeat
And wickedness is the mark of those who accompany them

7. Their guide is cunning, and their friend
Is wickedness, and pure deceit leads them

8. Thus, none who accompany them are safe
Unless they pretend to agree with them

9. And in such pretense, evil is sealed
Bringing disgrace to those who befriend them

10. My wisdom is to turn away from them
And not to see this life befriending them

11. I give advice to every naive lad
Whose truths sprouted far from theirs

12. So that his naivete one day does not
Allow their cunning to trick him

13. And I guide the heedless lest one day
Their plots should strike him

14. Into ordeals fell, and exhaustion
Those their parting made stray

15. And from the path of righteousness outcast
Those whose ways would not constrict them

16. And hostage to sorrows, a person
Whose salvation their separation grants him
