1. I have composed praise
Of the noble traits

2. Of the auspicious one,
Like a necklace of fine pearls

3. In the hand of fulfillment -
Through the grace of the Prince,

4. A Prince marked with virtue,
Wing of the feeble,

5. Refuge of the wronged,
What an excellent helper!

6. He has the lion's charge
And the panther's pounce;

7. In him is the shy gazelle
And the wiseman's patience;

8. The chaste one's modesty
And the rain's benefit;

9. The musk's fragrance
And the moon's beauty.

10. May you endure, pride of kingship,
Radiance of gems!

11. You exalt loving friends
With a cup of gifts.

12. O star of fortune
And life's delight!

13. My Lord Isma'il -
Sun of kings!

14. In praising you, prose
Became like poetry's pearls,

15. And one speaking it nearly
Facilitates for the conveyor -

16. He effortlessly attains
Subtle elegance,

17. As the delicate plants wafted
From the gardens of Nejd.

18. It adds more taste
For the sensitive soul,

19. And delights the anguished
From the beloved's estrangement.

20. Its sequences ascend
Above Ibn al-Khatib's work!

21. Take it like honey
With sips.

22. My love spoke truly
Of my intention.
