1. O Lord, whence comes strength?
Who waters the flowers with strength?

2. Your servant has spent himself in passion
And passion itself is spent.

3. That which exalted him
From the heights of glory when he was exalted,

4. And the spear of sorrow has wounded him,
So it cast down his heart with wounds.

5. So guide him and aid him,
And make him firm as the prominent height.

6. And feed his heart with righteousness,
Whether it be of goodness or firmness.

7. He who is lowly called upon You—
Respond, O our Lord, to his support.

8. And save him from polytheism
When evil unveils its disgrace.

9. And his poverty reveals his incapacity,
And he inclines with supplication for help.

10. And make him incline to ease,
And be his protection against its opposite.

11. And be his charm against everything
He fears or needs protection from.

12. And treat him with enabling guidance
To what fulfills his needs.

13. And grant him safety from desires
That would lead him away from Your guidance.

14. And from what entails his rejection,
And from what entails his withdrawal.

15. And deliver me in my mind
From what entails my disdain.

16. And from Iblis the deluder—
Do not let him tempt us to our ruin.

17. And from what plucks the fruit of sins
That clothe the youth with vileness.

18. And from what gathers the defects
That cover the profligate with vileness.

19. And make me possess the bridle of righteousness
That I may remain grasping its belt.

20. And grant me refuge from the striking of error
Or its stabbing or piercing.

21. And the striking of care or its wounding,
And the stabbing of grief or its thrusting.

22. For my plea has called upon You,
All-Knowing, All-Hearing, to my support,

23. By the status of the Chosen One, the Elect,
He who gave drink to the flowers of the meadow.

24. A perpetual prayer watering him
With Your good pleasure or its flow.

25. Upon him the dawn showered
The sweetness of mention or its flow.
