1. When I saw the sons of Banu Nufatha approaching,
Subduing all cowards and poltroons,
2. I sensed the wind of death blowing from their direction,
And disliked all weaklings and faint-hearts.
3. I raised my leg, fearing no stumbling,
And cast off my clothes in the open.
4. I advanced, my resolve unshaken by any,
A kinsman, swift to respond when called.
5. God knows I left no rouser sleeping
When my soul was eager - ask my comrades!
6. Had my she-camel witnessed it, her startled cry
Would have melted the nails of sandals.
