1. Long did September, the fasting month, linger
Yet we fulfilled not the due of wine therein
١. طَوَّلَ في أَيلولَ شَهرُ الصِيامِ
وَما قَضَينا فيهِ حَقَّ المُدامِ
2. By God, I'll not be content if time should steal
The month of fast in every single year
٢. وَاللَهِ لا أَرضى عَلى الدَهرِ أَو
يَسرِقَ شَهرَ الصَومِ في كُلِّ عامِ
