1. Has your soul told you what you may see?
For perhaps the soul's wishes are true.
١. هَل حَدَّثَتكَ النَفسُ فيما قَد تَرى
فَلَرُبَّما صَدَقَت أَماني الأَنفُسِ
2. He gives you a sip from his cup out of his palm
And when he sees the necks he is not suspicious
٢. يَسقيكَ فَضلَةَ كَأسِهِ مِن كَفِّهِ
وَإِذا رَأى الرَقباءَ لَم يَتَوَجَّسِ
3. The sleepiness of drowsiness bites his eyelids
His eyelashes tell of the wilting of the narcissus.
٣. وَسنانُ مِن خَدعِ النِعاسِ جُفونَهُ
يَحكي بِمُقلَتِهِ ذُبولِ النَرجِسِ
