1. Time has flown by
And gone to extremes

2. No longer as you used to see it
Joyful and content

3. Yet I was pleased but never
As displeased as my gray hair

4. Time has yielded for us
Everything abandoned

5. And I have spurred on
A wide-striding assailant

6. Approaching in the darkness
With white speckled

7. Looking with unbridled passion
That ignited when tied

8. And when he walked he flung
His sleeves folded

9. Like a gazelle escaped
From a leafy branch it leaped

10. And his beard seemed
To flutter open

11. So we trod a barren land
That it traversed and roamed

12. In it the Spring’s rain poured
Patterns woven

13. And its furrows we gathered
And divided its plots

14. As if its light
Cast off gray locks

15. The dawn raised in it
Chatter for the birds

16. Safe, though its wilderness
Rose or sank

17. Leaving with its foot
Every land it stamped

18. Oh you who toy with me
Excessively erring

19. Can a chick’s screech frighten
A prowling hunter?

20. No blame on the trapper
For any harm inflicted

21. A slithering serpent alerted
Coiled dusty vipers

22. Vicious and preying
And upon me they pounced
