إن كنت قد بلغت عني سبة

1. If you have been told slander about me
Then the fault in it belongs to the slanderous enemy

١. إِن كُنتَ قَد بُلِّغتَ عَنّي سُبَّةً
فَالذَنبُ فيهِ لِلعَدوِّ المُفتَري

2. Or they made you think that my promise was cut off
But the free man does not accept a severed promise

٢. أَو خَيَّلو لَكَ أَنَّ عَهدي أَبتَرٌ
فَالحُرُّ لا يَرضى بِعَهدٍ أَبتَرِ

3. My nature is like the buyer’s – there is in it no
Flaw, so is there a buyer for the buyer?

٣. طَبعي كَطَبعِ المُشتَري ما فيهِ مِن
شَوبِ فَهَل مِن مُشتَرٍ لِلمُشتَري
