1. O gazelle of the valley, you are my soul
Not as you spent the night of estrangement bitterly

5. Good fortunes in love were divided, so O my good fortune
In loving her, you made me miss good fortune

6. Do not blame me, O companion, in loving
My soul to whom belongs salvation, and you

7. Stop blaming me, for I have been tested enough
And my test is enough, O you who reproach, so relax

8. You are safe from her love, and if you had
Tasted her love, passion would have excused you

9. So may God reward you your due from me
You did not alleviate my test and increased it

10. Forget it, her love, you would have done good
O heart, can you endure patience

11. Since you have released me, so be patient
He whose love is vast

12. With much torment, as you have known
So avoid him as you scarcely

13. See him, every time you meet him weaker
Or were you not about to give up ogling

14. And travel in piety and return
And by whom you have been tested, if only, O wretch

15. You had loved a constant one or left

16. Breaking promises, betraying if you had used your mind
A granter delaying promises

17. So if you say “give it” he says “wait”
As long as you were deviating before this

18. From the ropes of passion, so how did you fall
I do not see that the devil has sinned in love

19. Surely my eye led and you followed
So taste love, you were prohibited yet disobeyed

20. Are you not the one who disobeyed, are you not
A gazelle who emptied your imagination of her

21. Her promise did not last as you covenanted
And she had given you enjoyment of her company

22. For a past time, and it was and you were
So ask about her, for now is the time of consolation
