1. I become jealous of you from my heart whenever
He sees you and you are distant, though I do not see you,  
١. أَغارُ عَلَيكِ مِن قَلبي إِذا ما
 رَآكِ وَقَد نَأَيتِ وَما أَراكِ
2. And my specter, when I sleep, spends the night travelling
And I did not travel until I reached you, 
٢. وَطَيفي حينَ نُمتُ فَباتَ لَيلاً
 يَسيرُ وَلَم أَسِر حَتّى أَتاكِ
3. And rain pouring generously on an arid desert from you
Is it not as if I cried for you and you cried for me? 
٣. وَغَيثاً جادَ رَبعاً مِنكِ قَفراً
 أَلَيسَ كَما بَكَيتُكِ قَد بَكاكِ
4. And from the eye of the Prophet and from a book 
When you touched it with your hands, 
٤. وَمِن عَينِ الرَسولِ وَمِن كِتابٍ
 إِذا ما فُضَّ مَسَّتهُ يَداكِ
5. And from the tip of a branch from al-Irak
When you gave it, O evil relief! 
٥. وَمِن طَرَفِ القَضيبِ مِنَ الإِراكِ
 إِذا أَعطَيتِهِ يا شُرَّ فاكِ
