1. After you all I befriended a group,
Yet I had no desire for that kind.
١. صاحَبتُ مِن بَعدِكُم مَعشَراً
وَلَم أَكُن في ذاكَ بِالراغِبِ
2. Their singing was but insults to their sitters,
And their dancing was torture for the onlooker.
٢. غِنائُهُم شَتمٌ لِجُلّاسِهِم
وَرَقصُهُم في كَبِدِ الصاحِبِ
