1. The orange trees are laden as though their fruit
were chrysolite stones filled full of dew.
١. وَأَشجارُ نارَنجٍ كَأَنَّ ثِمارَها
حِقاقُ عَقيقٍ قَد مُلِئنَ مِنَ الدُرِّ
2. Their blossoms peeping out from between the boughs
are like the blushing cheeks of virgins in their bowers of green.
٢. مَطالِعُها بَينَ الغُصونِ كَأَنَّها
خُدودُ عَذارى في مَلاحِفِها الخُضرِ
3. Each one brings to her longing lover some new delight,
and stirs his heart with joy though he knows not why.
٣. أَتَت كُلَّ مُشتاقٍ بَريّا حَبيبِهِ
فَهاجَت لَهُ الأَحزانَ مِن حَيثُ لا يَدري
