1. Where are the sons of Badr in slaying Malik?
And Rabi'a fails us in adversities,

2. And Ziyad used to be protected by him
From the days of horror and terror,

3. So say to Rabi'a who imitates his chief's deeds,
While people are but keepers and wasters,

4. Else, why should I stay in the country,
And the command of Badr's sons is binding on me.
