1. To whom are the abodes with the lightning of sorrow,
With lightning, then the hills from addiction?

2. Its dwellings have been weakened and its forms changed
After the friend, the times alternate.

3. So I stood in it with my companions, and in it
Is no grace or human.

4. Except the gazelles in it as though their crying
Is the quiver of sails in the regions of the artery.

5. So when I covered it with a flash of Wāsiṭ,
Lubaynah turned as an abode that made me weep.

6. Then we bore the departure and bid it farewell,
While my heart is held hostage to the dignity of Ān.

7. Indeed, its burdens had grown the day they halted
Among the branches between Khafaynān and Diʿān.

8. So the heart sketches them as though
They attract it with the temptations of devils.

9. Imagination roamed the family of Āzzah abased
After dignity, so my sorrows raged within me.

10. So it pained me from the people of Buwayb, their image
With a bride from the people of Dharwān.

11. Al-Ḥājibiyah was returned to him after the stupidity
Flowed with the clamor of monkeys.

12. And indeed I swore to it a true oath
By God among the sanctities of the Merciful,

13. By the dancers atop the wine-skin in the evening
Covering the slopes of ʿArmaḍ al-Ẓahrān.
