بِبَينَةَ رَسمُها رَسمٌ مُحيلُ

٢. تَحَمَّلَ أَهلُها وَجرى عَلَيها
رِياحُ الصَيفِ وَالسِربُ الهَطولُ

٣. تَحِنُّ بِها الدَبورُ إِذا أَرَبَّت
كَما حَنَّت مُوَلَّهَةٌ عَجولُ

١١. كَأَنَّ صَبيبَ غادِيَةٍ بِلَصبٍ

١٥. لأَبيَضَ ماجِدٍ تُهدي ثَناهُ
إِلَيهِ وَالثَناءُ لَهُ قَليلُ
16. To the honorable man whose hands are too short to reach
When glory bought high is attained but doesn't weigh heavy or tire
١٦. أَبي مَروانَ لا تَعدِل سِواهُ
بِهِ أَحداً وَأَينَ بِهِ عَديلُ
17. Trustworthy in heart, guarding what was entrusted like a noble wrapping his reputation
Pure, stainless in clothes, righteous, striving to do good
١٧. بَطاحِيٌّ لَهُ نَسَبٌ مُصَفّى
وَأَخلاقٌ لَها عَرضٌ وَطولُ
18. Father Marwan, you are the choice of Quraysh and their venerable elder
The clan entrusts its affairs, neither close-fisted nor stingy
١٨. فَقَد طَلَبَ المَكارِمَ فَاِحتَواها
أَغَرُّ كَأَنَّهُ سَيفٌ صَقيلُ
19. To you they gesture if pleased or bothered by a grave matter
Openhanded each day, praiseworthy in every deed
١٩. تَجَنَّبَ كُلَّ فاحِشَةٍ وَعَيبٍ
وَصافي الحَمدَ فَهوَ لَهُ خَليلُ
20. Generous, exceeding in bounty, granting requests unstintingly
The land transforms at the growth he brings when he passes by
٢٠. إِذا السَبعونَ لَم تُسكِت وَليداً
وَأَصبَحَ في مَبارِكِها الفُحولُ
21. For the awe and esteem clear-faced, affable, radiate from him
To kinsmen and family his kind acts flow uninterrupted
٢١. وَكانَ القَطرُ أَجلاباً وَصِرّاً
تَحُثُّ بِهِ شَآمِيَّةٌ بليلُ
22. Hands whose favors exceeded due bounds and their reach grew long
He forgives those who wronged him when rancor closes minds
٢٢. فَإِنَّ بِكَفِّهِ ما دامَ حَيّاً
مِنَ المَعروفِ أَودِيَةً تَسيلُ
23. He wasn't reminded of propriety but his own mature judgment guided him
For the destitute he cares and shows mercy, no plea denied or unanswered
٢٣. تَقولُ حَليلَتي لَمّا رَأَتني
أَرِقتُ وَضافَني هَمٌّ دَخيلُ
24. Of ample protection, his shade shelters and protects
And how many deep in debt were relieved by you
٢٤. كَأَنَّ قَد بَدا لَكَ بَعدَ مُكثٍ
وَطولِ إِقامَةٍ فينا رَحيلُ
25. And those confused were guided until the way was clear
You clarified many a muddled affair with patience that is just and upright
٢٥. فَقُلتُ أَجَل فَبَعضَ اللَومِ إِنّي
قَديماً لا يُلائِمُني العَذولُ
26. Through you the glorious edifice of honor and lasting glory grew in Zubayr's line
A firm pillar though the noblest branch may shake
٢٦. وَأَبيَضُ يَنعَسُ السَرحانُ فيهِ
كَأَنَّ بَياضَهُ رَيطٌ غَسيلُ
٢٧. خَدَت فيهِ بِرَحلي ذاتُ لَوثٍ
مِنَ العيدِيِّ ناجِيَةٌ ذَمولُ
٢٨. سَلوكٌ حينَ تَشتَبهُ الفَيافي
وَيُخطِئُ قَصدَ وِجهَتِهِ الدَليلُ
٢٩. إِذا فَضَلَت مَعاقِدُ نِسعَتَيها
وَأَصبَحَ ضَفرُها قَلِقاً يَجولُ
٣٠. عَلى قَرواءَ قَد ضَمرَت فَفيها
وَلَم تَبلُغ سَليقَتُها ذَبولُ
٣١. طَوَت طَيَّ الرِداءِ الخَرقَ حَتّى
تَقارَبَ بُعدُهُ سُرُحٌ نَصولُ
٣٢. مِنَ الكُتمِ الحَوافِظِ لا سَقوطٌ
إِذا سَقَطَ المَطِيُّ وَلا سَؤولُ
٣٣. تَكادُ تَطيرُ إِفراطاً وَسَغباً
إِذا زُجِرَت وَمُدَّت لَها الحَبولُ
٣٤. إِلى القَرمِ الَّذي فاتَت يَداهُ
بِفِعلِ الخَيرِ بَسطَةَ مَن يُنيلُ
٣٥. إِذا ما غالِيَ الحَمدِ اِشتراهُ
فَما إِن يَستَقِلُّ وَلا يُقيلُ
٣٦. أَمينُ الصَدرِ يَحفَظُ ما تَوَلّى
كَما يُلفى القَوِيُّ بِهِ النَبيلُ
٣٧. نَقِيٌّ طاهِرُ الأَثوابِ بَرٌّ
لِكُلِّ الخَيرِ مُصطَنِعٌ مُحيلُ
٣٨. أَبا مَروانَ أَنتَ فيتى قُرَيشٍ
وَكَهلُهُمُ إِذا عُدَّ الكُهولُ
٣٩. تُوَلّيهِ العَشيرَةُ ما عَناها
فَلا ضَيقُ الذِراعِ وَلا بَخيلُ
٤٠. إِلِيكَ تُشيرُ أَيديهِم إذا ما
رَضوا أَو غالَهُم أَمرٌ جَليلُ
٤١. كِلا يَومَيهِ بِالمَعروفِ طَلقٌ
وَكُلُّ فَعالِهِ حَسَنٌ جَميلُ
٤٢. جَوادٌ سابِقٌ في اليُسرِ بَحرٌ
وَفي العِلّاتِ وَهّابٌ بَذولُ
٤٣. تَأَنَّسُ بِالنَباتِ إِذا أَتاها
لِرُؤيَةِ وَجهِهِ الأَرضُ المَحولُ
٤٤. لِبَهجَةِ واضِحٍ سَهلٍ عَلَيهِ
إِذا رُئِيَ المَهابةُ والقَبولُ
٤٥. لِأَهلِ الوُدِّ وَالقُربى عَلَيهِ
صَنائِعُ بَثَّها بَرٌّ وَصولُ
٤٦. أَيادٍ قَد عُرِفنَ مُظاهَراتٍ
لَهُ فيها التَطاوُلُ وَالفُضولُ
٤٧. وَعَفوٌ عَن مُسيئِهِمُ وَصَفحٌ
يَعودُ بِهِ إِذا غَلِقَ الحُجولُ
٤٨. إِذا هُوَ لَم تُذَكِّرهُ نُهاهُ
وَقارَ الدينِ وَالرَأيُ الأَصيلُ
٤٩. وَلِلفُقراءِ عائِدَةٌ وَرُحمٌ
وَلا يُقصى الفَقيرُ وَلا يَعيلُ
٥٠. جَنابٌ واسِعُ الأَكنافِ سَهلٌ
وَظِلٌّ في مَنادِحِهِ ظَليلُ
٥١. وَكَم مِن غارِمٍ فَرَّجتَ عَنهُ
مَغارِمَ كُلَّ مَحمَلِها ثَقيلُ
٥٢. وَذي لَدَدٍ أَرَيتَ اللَدَّ حَتّى
تَبَيَّنَ وَاِستَبانَ لَهُ السَبيلُ
٥٣. وَأَمرٍ قَد فَرَقتَ اللَبسَ مِنهُ
بِحِلمٍ لا يَجورُ وَلا يَميلُ
٥٤. نَمى بِكَ في الذَؤابَةِ مِن قُرَيشٍ
بِناءُ العِزِّ وَالمَجدُ الأَثيلُ
٥٥. أَرومٌ ثابِتٌ يَهتَزُّ فيهِ
بِأَكرَمِ مَنبِتٍ فَرعٌ أَصيلُ
