1. Convey to the living tribe of Kinana
My greetings, for greetings are a trust

2. And spread what was folded for them in my clothes
From an Imam whom Allah has made great

3. His heart discloses the sciences of revelation
And through it Allah has made eloquent his tongue

4. O you who urges on the riding beast to the living tribe, say
On behalf of my heart and make clear its yearning

5. I have recently been in close company
In the shade of the delicate, beautiful tents

6. My love for Salma despite the separation is lawful
And in intimacy my religion and faith

7. Every flower of mine in her love is a flower's scent
And my comfort, the wind blows the sweet basil

8. From the unseen I have in wakefulness intoxication
And from the Truth in realities, ecstasy

9. An Arab whose Arabness concealed my secret
In my companion, so I never ceased being his interpreter

10. Such is my lineage and this is my station
Human! Look upon the human in his humaneness
