1. Upon you, your spirit, the divine secret
To what extent you are heedless of this secret

2. You seek it while your spirit, his command, has come to you
From perfection, for you, forbidding you from yourself

Your spirit is ancient, Sublime, know what it is

4. While your body, less than your worth, perishes
With which you are infatuated, and busy amusing yourself

5. And your spirit, O son of Adam, does not perish
And that is for you eternity without end

6. It is the flashing lightning in a house
Its daughter built it with soil and water

7. And the demolition of the house is known, so hurry
To uncover yourself from this dilapidated house

8. And do not reckon that you are a body
For you are heedless that you have strayed

9. And you are the spirit and it has come upon you
Clothed in the divine order

10. So realize an image for yourself in which
You will find it the spirit with red lips

11. He pictures it as it is in His hands
However He has willed in glory and splendor

12. In illness and good health and beauty
And ugliness, so be characterized by vigilance

13. Yes! So recite to Him the creation out of
Contentment with Him, and the matter, O confused one

14. For your body He created and the spirit is
His command, so understand with an understanding from Him

15. And give your body its right according to sacred law
And toward Him lay your forehead on the ground

16. And the spirit’s right is good morals
And toward truth, precise direction

17. And perform the commands of obligations and leave
With sincerity all prohibitions

18. You will find in it progress every time
And amusements will awaken you to reminders

19. So if you actualize it and leave a decree
Upon you to defer it, it will lead to pitfalls

20. And time will not preserve you so that
Misguided and contentious ones make you stray

21. And whoever differentiates even from afar after union
Upon him the Commander calls and forbids

22. And the spirit of breath is from Him and other than Him
So join the beasts and sheep

23. As for respect, that is something
With which the heart forever becomes lively
