1. My enemies in love and my friends
My beloved with the fluttering veil

2. I always lean towards none but her
Whether you agree or oppose in love

3. Reveal yourself to me whenever you please
With the ghosts of creation and its wraiths

4. She was and I was and so
She is thus with wests and easts

5. I am her dress, spirit and body, and she is in
My undressing and dressing like a fleeting lightning

6. Nay, I am not a dress for her, but that is for me
A dress I strut with among people

7. Nay, I am no dress for her nor she a dress for me
O pilferer, you broke the oath of pilferers

8. This space seemed open so wander about
In light and come out of narrow passes

9. And beware that behind that there is no beyond
Of a watcher who does not rest and a vanish

10. And yearn and strike with a stick a stone to pour
For you eyes from it with gushing water

11. Then perform ablution with it and wash and enter with it
The Noble Sanctuary, abode of subtle spirits

12. And prostrate yourself there for the face of your love, a prostration
Then after it another, the prostration of the wavering

13. You will attain your wishes and remain beneath tents
Of His subtlety, forever, and beneath canopies
