1. We are the Prophet's brothers, al-Mustafa
Oh, if only he could see us, it would suffice

2. While his companions were before us
This is stated in a hadith to follow

3. And his companions have passed and gone
While we remain brothers of purity

4. Our love comes from loving him
And with distance, remoteness is denied

5. He longs, and we long, as
He complains, we complain, the bitterest estrangement

6. And if he loves, we love like him
A matter too lofty to be described

7. Among the brethren is a hand of authority
Demanding from him pacts and loyalty

8. It is also a continuous lineage
The station of caliphs, a unified soul

9. And if companionship was manifestly
Noble and increased in honor

10. The relation of brethren inwardly requires
Only passion and fervor

11. They conditioned seeing by the eye so whoever
Attained it saw him bodily and it sufficed

12. While we condition the essence for the essence you see
A seeing of verification without any concealment

13. So know the difference between the two
Who knew has won favor
