1. Our Lord Allah, the Most High
Above all likenesses and comparisons

2. Mighty in His kingdom, Majestic, thus
His essence is beyond men's minds

3. They cannot know Him through mention or thought
Or fantasy or reflection

4. He is beyond all creation's grasp, yet they
Glorify Him in depictions and forms

5. While utterly transcendent, He reveals
Himself to high and low

6. Near to all things, yet from all far
In splendor and majesty

7. All motion and rest come from and to Him
In every state, He ordains

8. Nothing has effect apart from Him
Only ascription of deeds

9. Those granted knowledge know Him through Him
After souls' destruction and decay

10. No pretense left them regarding Him
No trace of stirrings or speech

11. To Him they surrendered and saw
Him as the Doer in succession

12. To Him alone deeds ascribed stay
For servitude to perfection

13. His laws tasked them to see
From Him through them in generality

14. Manifest through them, from them hidden
Timeless, eternal is He

15. In His Essence, unseen mystery
In Attributes, peaks of sublimity

16. Through Him they connected, then apart
When they found, then lost Him, ceaselessly.
