1. Contemplate, nothing that has passed will come again
And none knows what will happen except the youth

2. I drank existence but was not sated
When, O my poetry, will I be sated with love?

3. When will I be sated with it, it which
Annihilated me, yet affirmed me

4. So it affirmed me through it without
Me seeing any existence apart from it come to be

5. So woe, woe to me and to
He who led it when it drew near, enticing

6. Lo, O my people, stand right here
For it has a sword, honed and ready

7. Take from the meanings of its signs
Through it, not you, and aim for the affirmed

8. A lover of the essence of the Beloved
When He is revealed to us, dumbfounds us

9. My eyes are blind save to His face
And my ears deaf but to His voice

10. He is the Truth, appearing and hiding, and he who
Wants to meet with Him, finds himself scattered

11. And there is no gathering but through Him; he who
Transgresses from His command has strayed indeed
