1. In God's name, O you who cast me with estrangement and abandonment
Return with union, for I am lovelorn and infatuated

2. I have no patience without meeting you, my beloved
At all times my heart melts with sorrow

3. Tell the lightning flashes of the meadows to desist from me
For they have captivated me with that glimmer

4. And say to the breeze of that fever, be generous with us
With the scent of roses or else the fragrance of basil

5. O you who became estranged until even enemies did not know him
He did not hide from his lovers no matter what has transpired

6. You appeared in everything yet everything besides you to me is
And you, you are certain, while all else perishes

7. If I say you are me, I would be ignorant of your essence
For no existence is with the Light of Truth for the darkness of the universe

8. And if I say you are other than me, then I would claim a partner
Since your essence refuses that there be a second with it

9. How could that be when Truth is truth and all else is impossible
And where is pure Perfection from untainted Deficiency

10. This existence is an illusion and we are all in a dream
And nothing exists except the Truth of Man

11. So remove the mask of heedlessness from your heart’s face and look
You will find your Beloved nearer to you than yourself now

12. And beware resembling anything you may have reached
And free the intellect from all the intellect finds obvious

13. And take cups of companionship and serve the sincere
Stand in the presence of My Generosity and enter with me into melodies

14. And abandon the gang of ignorant whose intention for you is evil
And avoid throughout all times the arrows from them

15. They adorn speech what they warn you not
To seek knowledge of God, yet all that is falsehood

16. What merit do you have over your God, tell me
That you would fear for yourself and feel secure from the Merciful

17. O lightening of the caves flutter for you have captured my heart
And in my ribs is thunder and my tears are distraught

18. My body grew emaciated from burning and pining
And patience has left me during this estrangement

19. O rider of accusations, go gently for my heart ails
Mounted on the steed of companionship, travelling with the caravan

20. For God, if you come to Najd, Ramma and the Mosque
Convey my greetings and say I am lovesick and distraught
