1. Let me be in the love of the Beloved
For it is to me the ultimate desired

2. And stay away, O ignorant and wicked one
From my path and refrain from my way

3. If your Lord had intended good for you
I would have said, "Repent, O soul, repent"

4. But God has led you astray in ignorance
Of the sublime, desired station

5. If you are wearied by what I am in
Yet in the morning deny my drink

6. You are in disbelief, finding fault
In one who has no defects

7. And rejecting the Lord and the Prophets
For the sins you have enumerated

8. So the God of all has a beloved
Named Mustafa, cure of hearts

9. And so the Messenger who came to call
Us with truth to obligation and recommendation

10. His beloved was the son of Harithah, Zaid
Whom he adopted, so he is as a son

11. And Moses had his companion Joshua as a beloved
Exalted above all defects

12. And the son of Jacob - the beautiful Joseph
Was the beloved of the God-fearing Jacob

13. Then David, tempted by beauty
And given to drink the gentlest cup

14. David thought he was seduced
As the Knower of the hidden said

15. And many of the virtuous nation
Were by love of beauty in hearts of passion

16. We have in them an example of chastity
And piety, rectitude and composure

17. So if you accuse us of something ugly
Are not all destined as is written?

18. Our nature is love - it does not leave us
With the lies of an ignorant veiled one

19. But God suffices us - He is enough
Against every slanderous liar
