And thinks it a meaning that comes to mind

2. Like one who knows food and its taste
With understanding without eating due to its mention

3. Ecstasy is a state when it overwhelms the young man
The young man does not recover from its intoxication

4. You see him unable to distinguish
When the bird of his mind flew from its nest

5. In his sincerity, the people of the wilderness knew his state
Or in his deception, they uncovered his scheme

6. This ecstasy drops rulings from
Every man overwhelmed by its strange state

7. If it lasts more than a day you see him as a night
Like madness in its persistent state

8. Less than this does not invalidate
The duty of prayer so stand to thank Him

9. And beware you think your knowledge of ecstasy
Without having tasted the first wine

10. Drops the rulings of your canon law just as
The heretics drop its sanctity
