1. True are my words that listening is a cure
For all diseases, in it there is healing

2. But benefit is for those of taste and temperament
Of integrity, not harshness

3. A man is energized by the wail of the flute
Wherever singing is pleasing

4. So listen my friend if you are like me
Utterly free, no concealment in him

5. And hearken to the tambourine and lute when
Praise is lavished upon them

6. He who is distracted by that is deluded
Not knowing what that intimation is

7. It is a secret that appears loudly from the unseen
To the hearts of men wherein is animation

8. The mind is intoxicated by that from which appears
Knowledge and news overflowing

9. Verily the knowledge of God fills an
Empty heart of it, things have vanished

10. It is a heart for the gnostics made sound
Burnished by providence and guidance

11. God filled it with all the wilds
And the wilds, annihilation has encompassed them

12. All is nonexistence, my Lord exists
For Him is the Throne above the elevation

13. He reveals Himself to us and we are witnesses
Futile are we, all, and obliteration

14. But the eternal power manifested
For our impermanence, and in it eternity

15. From it grace and mercy enveloped us
And bestowal, tenderness, and care

16. The cup of sama' from it came upon us
In it unveiling and manifestation containment

17. So when the rebab hummed, the tambourine
Answered, and anxiety settled

18. And the wailing of the flutes resembled it
Beats of the drum, oh the bliss!

19. Arise, contemplate, and increase your knowledge of your Lord
None can match Him in His knowledge

20. All knowledge other than of God is ignorance
With it the ignorant were tempted in the world

21. Other than the knowledge of God there is no knowledge
Rather that is presumption and pretense

22. For this you see arrogance in him who
Knows the universe and it is a worthless thing

23. And he who knows God you see him
Remaining in humility and deference

24. The crux of the matter, nothing but
Knowledge of God, its people are the learned

25. Thus the Book came to us and came
The Sunna of the Prophet and fulfillment
