Strutting about in robes of phantoms and images

No changes or alterations, so take heed

11. O you who blamed me in ignorance, be calm
For you are to me counted among the cattle

12. My affair is great and my status beyond your grasp
Unless the water of soul in you clears from turbidity

13. So look into your own soul and empty it of advice
Then advise others, exhibit merit and take pride

14. Woe to me from the deluded blamer in censuring me
Deeming I neglected the exalted in palaces

15. To the point he claimed, from excess of his devotion
And asceticism, that he is among the best of men

16. Yet knows not what his worship reaps
Of veils from the bliss of sight for him

17. And he who looks to asceticism and devotions, averting
From his Master is blind, and the opposite is one of vision

18. And we are a people whose aspiration
Has risen above others to the Almighty, All-Powerful

19. Neither asceticism from others veils us from Him
Nor obedience hides us from Him

20. We stand by Him, not ourselves, for existence is His
And shadow lacks existence without the tree
