1. Look upon the universe and its arrangement
And know that the secret lies in something else

2. None seeks Allah sincerely, nor
Yearns to meet Him in his journey

3. Except he who believes in the unseen, not
Content with the intellect and its depiction

4. And knows his soul that it
Falls under the jurisdiction of His decree

5. Powerless before Him the Exalted, thus it cannot
Perceive anything but His alteration of things

6. For the thing, so the thing perishes
Yet His countenance remains in its benevolence

7. Your sleep has been mentioned in the Scripture among
His signs, so be conscious of His reminder

8. And people came asleep just as
Our Prophet said in his affirmation

9. And a sleeping one encounters an imagination arising
From it, needing its interpretation

10. Yet the interpretation is from the apparent
To the inward, it crosses over into something else

11. Nothing is comparable to Allah as
He the Exalted said in His exegesis

12. An allusion recognized by the knower
Of clarity from the other and its turbidity

13. So understand my words and ascertain through them
That the heart shines with its illumination
