1. These clothes and luxuries
Are donned for a while, then stripped away,

13. Ask the caravan camped

21. We submit, and our state with God

22. The eye of existence shone for us
And the cloud of ignorance dispersed.

23. We came near where none are -
Neither seen nor hearing.

24. Then we returned after that, and what
Sustenance or satisfaction have we?

25. Yearning and longing remained with us
Always - with us is pain.

26. How can you whose hearts hardened
Be reformed without reminder?

27. You were content with the impossible, and
Have become pleased with frivolity.

28. I heard them from your whispers,
And you were satisfied to follow.

29. May God not please the eye of a youth
Who rushes heedless of his beloved's love!

30. I am consumed by love of him -
My people did not see or hear.

31. My heart was ensnared by a glance of his flirtation
Safe from fancy's notions.

32. If the prayer of creation appears through him
And if he signals, they bow down.

33. I have a heart filled with love's ache -

34. Separation and anguish are constant
