1. O you who are heedless, your faces are black,
While your Lord is born in fantasy.

2. Your fantasy gave birth to a god for you,
You are slaves while He is worshipped.

3. And you deny the existence of your Creator,
Claiming that He is God and He exists.

4. If our Lord were not existence itself, He would be
The impossible aim of nothingness.

5. The fantasy of those who worshipped
Their own fantasy would be in vain.

6. Far be it that our Creator would be
Other than the existence that is generous.

7. He encompasses us and all things,
Denied and unknown.

8. By Him the heavens shone, and by Him
The earth, all of it, and the wood grew leaves.

9. Are you satisfied that fantasy gives you
A lord while existence is inert?

10. That your universes and youths and cheeks
Are not upheld by this existence?

11. All is darkness of fantasy, and what
Appears to you from it is rejected.

12. Our Lord, He created us, His existence
Is truth, all else is lost.

13. That is the meaning of wherever you are,
He is near, known to us.

14. Closer than our jugular vein, as
The masters of guidance have stated.

15. We are nothing, the universe perishes,
Passes with Him, and He is witnessed.

16. For this, our faces will be white tomorrow
While yours are black.

17. Our white faces where our Creator is,
Our existence is light and He is content.

18. While your Lord is in your fantasy, and by it
Your faces are tied with blackness.

19. The darkness of fantasy appeared in you, and
Was fueled into inferno by prostration.

20. Turn away from our path, stop,
Stop like the people whose warner was Hud.

21. For this existence is mighty and has
Transcended, what can limit existence?

22. It has no form, no second, its oneness
Is praised in it.

23. No likeness to It, nor similarity,
Place and manner are inapplicable to It.

24. Yet the eyes see It transcendent, though
The door to knowing It is blocked.

25. Solomon’s kingdom was from It, as was
David’s caliphate from It.

26. Its essence does not resemble essences, nor
Its attributes resemble attributes, O abject one.

27. You are abject, your creation is weak,
Resolve to be guided has faded in you.

28. Arise, testify that It is the existence for you,
For your day, like all others, is numbered.

29. It is evident to every possessor of vision,
Let no ego-trench obscure It from you.

30. Whoever is blind here will also be
Blind there, and the crop is harvested.

31. The text of God’s book is our proof,
And the pearls of speech are threaded.
