1. Sovereignty and leadership
Are but garments for the Master

2. Who was named with the names of slaves
For them the wretched claimed

3. With the insistence of his obstinate thoughts
So his blameworthy claim bears no fruit

4. While leadership and happiness were both
Attributed to the Glorious Lord

5. Whose wisdoms had submitted
But refused the difficult matter

6. Thus His sovereignty over
All existence remains matchless

7. And leadership is eternally His
In the state of the new creation

8. The secret therein is that
He has vanished from this ode

9. His attributes have not vanished
And remain like the states of the disciple

10. Indeed what is sought is the seeker
When comprehending the Unique’s rule

11. And walking backwards to it
Viewing the desert from afar

12. And all dimensions of straightness
Are nearness to the One Commander

13. And nearness is what always was
In eternity, well-established

14. Illusions have ceased to be
Never before in the dullard’s understanding

15. The people have entered into
An essence they met one feast day

16. The cave houses its people
And the dog hunts alongside them

17. Their entering is the eye of exiting
By the decree of the right speech

18. Though the matter is one
With frequent repetition

19. Nearness is to the essence
Which is the origin, not of the disciple

20. The disciple is of coursing
And your coursing brings no benefits

21. The passionate guarded their passion
From one desiring the sweet union

22. Not from their privacies, for they
Are to them as al-Walid

23. So manifest to them through them
And witness, be the eye of the witness

24. Branches are from the roots
The work of the Originator and Restorer
