That consciences have kept concealed

Causing signs to become visible

That makes the universe sway to its tune

4. Recite again what first moved us
With your voice enthrall and guide the lost

5. And unlock closed minds and meetings
Announcing good news to receptive hearts

6. You unveiled the veil of the world by mentioning
The Most High whom glory envelops

7. And revealed a secret long concealed
Embedded in the soil of poetry

8. And recalled a covenant of “Am I not your Lord?”
By which our sights were directed to Him

9. The flute sang fervently amongst us
And pulpits roared with song

10. Oh sublime reed pipe, you revealed
The secrets of my passionate longing

11. And resembled, by your blowing, my soul
With treasures of my heart laid bare

12. The lovesick becomes further distraught with love
As you mended what was broken within

13. He dies and lives whenever
The flashes of passion spark and songbirds sing

14. And when the morning breeze blows through his abode
He is overtaken, writhing in agony

15. I heard words the morning breeze carried
Circling towards the rising sun

16. I understood in my fervor its symbols
Not every ear discerns the whispers of passion

17. Nor every eye beholds the unveiled mysteries
Sulayma is jealous if she sees anyone

18. Behold her as we knew her to be jealous
You spoke truly - this journey has been prolonged

19. And love has oppressed me unjustly
And were it not for solace in contemplation

20. The cycles of existence would cease
At this vision hearts are set ablaze

21. And by its beauty passions tear through us
And it is none but Sulayma’s face

22. Differing from all things, yet nothing differs
It appeared and veils of others vanished

23. Forgiving grave sins of the penitent
We were and were not, there was and was not

24. Nothing remains but His holiness and precincts
Existence - but not that whose likenesses

25. Emerged in the cosmos with similarities
Rather, absolute existence unbound

26. By its absoluteness - all are but signs
Any defined existence grasped

27. By reason or senses are but its veils
When it is revealed to us altogether

28. And if concealed, we are the perplexed seekers
