1. Indeed, the creation is known through reason,
And our Creator through senses and tradition;

2. And they know God entirely through reason,
As they know the creation through senses and form;

3. If only they knew that what is in their minds
Is in fact the creation, indeed the Truth is evident to their senses

4. With His signs in everything glorified,
Above all things wherever a thing perishes from the whole;

5. Exalted and Majestic is God above every occurrent
In Essence, Attribute, indeed in Name and Deed;

6. And God has commanded people "look,"
That is with the eyes in the original looking;

7. But they turned away from it to the sights of their reason
And professed as the muddled philosophers professed;

8. Reason is only for livelihood, as it
Administers clothing, drinking and eating;

9. As for the five senses, they are for our Lord,
Through them we witness the signs above and below,

10. As stated in Qur’an and Sunna which
Guide the reasonable from the Trustworthy;

11. For witnessing His tangible signs take
Pursuing the signs which grows you like a vegetable,

12. And you see God’s deed in His creation,
And the signs testify to Him in continuity,

13. And that is God’s speech, and God is a Reader
Of an ancient speech without beginning or division,

14. Letters appeared through us in voices belonging to Him
Exalted above voices and ideal letters,

15. They were when we were not, all together, but
He is the Light of the Essence which reveals it like a shadow;

16. And the unseen of Truth Mighty and Exalted is veiled from
Similarity to the cosmos, distance and nearness;

17. But we hint with our knowledge of Him,
And we know the knowledge is sibling of ignorance.
