1. The Truth knows Itself through that which has
Taught the servant himself when he was worried

2. And through It the Truth teaches the servant and the serv-
ant through It became knowing the Truth so understand

3. Four relationships yet they are for one thing
Where can I find one who understands them?

4. And through them every relationship appeared in
Every intellect wherever I find one who blames them

5. It is your essence and it is essences
So verify through it and do not imagine

6. Four examples as I have shown you so follow
The path of truth; God has inspired

7. And drink the unseen mixed with the seen
And eat it all from your cup and be inspired

8. And listen, O ignorant one, to my words
I have for the illness of your ignorance a remedy

9. It is you, the one for whom is the oneness of essence
And multiplicity through attribution so understand

10. It is the eye of might, glory and majesty
Above all else, so its command concerning you is ambiguous

11. It has clothed other than it over every intellect
Yet it is none but it, and the person of understanding knows

12. And we have seen its qualities, and for each
A direction, wherever it pours forth and inspires

13. One worships its essence, one worships its attribute, one worships
Illusion and understanding, then worships the dirham

14. And consider the weakest of houses is the house
Of the spider, which your intellect imagined

15. This is a glimpse of the knowledge of the essence
For which the clearest revelation and ambiguity appeared

16. The great ones of us dwelled in its monastery
And its cup was passed around to every inspired one

17. So restrain its long spear to it
And storm it and mount the pitch-dark night

18. Circle around it as the Kaaba and kiss
Its cornerstone, and adhere to it, all determined

19. And take it as fortune, and leave every fortune
For to it belongs the right to all portions

20. It is what they all intended, and what
The jesters and fierce lions growled
