1. Ignorance casts darkness over existence,
Concealing the soul beneath animal hides.

2. It is the antithesis of equality, yet fire fuels light
In both creations, providing the fuel.

3. Thus you see dense bodies therein
Proclaimed everlasting after their day.

4. Every lofty ignorance has a lowly abyss -
Its existence added to the nonexistent.

5. Woe to a people who sold days of nearness
For nights of remoteness and blackness.

6. Then their deeds seemed like mirages -
They thought it was water in the valley.

7. But when they reached it they found nothing,
And the folly of the exiled confounded them.

8. Their heavens pelted them with flaming meteors,
And they saw fire beneath the shadow of columns.
