1. O rider of the caravan, may you stop awhile
So I can ask about my heart among the camel litters

2. For I entrusted it to you when I started your journey
And it said to my companions it would go to Tayba

3. So you called it at nightfall in Sari
Hurrying, so it responded quickly to me

4. And you made me suffer shedding its tears
In love, so say what you wish about the pouring and outpouring

5. And you reached the land of Hijaz, so it’s enough for you
That you attained your homes, while yearning after you is enough for me

6. We are equal in longing, though longing
Distinguishes you from me, nearness is mine

7. Tomorrow the traveller will reach his destination and
His yearning will cease while the one left behind remains full of sorrow

8. Is there any left behind among the tribe whose eyelids
Have not shed tears between brow and eyelid?

9. The wind says it thought it carried them
Comforting my love – blow upon my chest, blow!

10. Fate may let down the one whose lot is little
Though he was true to love and abundant in passion

11. But I did not come to them though my excuses were many
Except for my sin, nothing else

12. And were it not for that, the caller would not call to the valley
Nor would I be among the first riders and caravan

13. If the days blame me, no sin of mine
Will remain when I reach their camp throughout time

14. I spread out my hopes and grow certain of meeting
And cry out in wonder to the rider of the caravan – how amazing!

15. Is there among you one who will carry for me a flag
To my intercessor on the Day of my Gathering to my Lord?

16. To the best of creation and most merciful messenger
And most noble envoy to non-Arabs and Arabs alike

17. To the best who walked the wilds in sandals
And the most generous serving among people on the ground

18. To the best whose companions reminisce of him
So longing and fervor spread among them to the elite

19. To the owner of the Pond who, faithful,
Will give drink tomorrow from his overflowing, sweet water

20. To the intercessor for sinners in hardship
And their rescuer at the Gathering from the pit of disaster

21. He who the Merciful revealed his attributes
And his uprightness in the scriptures in all tongues

22. Jesus proclaimed his name and so did Kalim
Praying to the Lord on the west side

23. The wall of the Masjid was split and the fire quenched
For his birth, and the jinn flung flaming stars

24. The youths witnessed the splitting of his chest
A blessing, as the angels purified his heart

25. Thus she witnessed who was Umm Ayman
Milking the old camel, bouncing up and down

26. He gave news of the unseen death of their army
And who died of his relatives and companions

27. And of their state when martyred in it
Honored and singled out by the pleasure of the Lord

28. And of what transpired with commander Khalid
Named by Him the Sword of God in valor and assault

29. And he gave news of the death of the Negus when done
And of Hatib and his pardoned sin

30. That no throne remains like Chosroes’ throne
For the Persian who rose nor rule revolved around an axis

31. And the conquest of the white palaces of Babylon’s land
After a short time from the periods

32. Allah made the means easy for him tomorrow
And prayers of every prophet and prophet sent

33. And they came to him one day complaining
To him of the hardship they faced

34. That cattle grew scarce and crops withered
With mountains worth of clouds but no rain

35. Clouds came from all sides
Raining continuously until weeks passed

36. So they came to ask him to pray and he prayed for them
Diverting the rain back to meadow and grass

37. The camel calf was a clear miracle
All the companions saw in the vast mosque

38. Likewise when the camel came
Speaking to him, as did the wolf and camel bull

39. The trees came when he called them
And he said “return” so they returned to the hill

40. On Badr’s day the Merciful’s angels gave him victory
In the battle, surrounding the enemy

41. At Badr he was given the palm trunk of Ukashah
So he threw it, the hardest throwing arm

42. And was given the verdict on Ibn Jusham in passion
So it became in his hands an honest, striking blade

43. Thus the staff granted to Ibn Aslam became
A sword, strong in blows, never failing to strike

44. The swords of the Powerful’s power struck wonder
Changing a staff by their actions though it was but a piece of wood

45. At Hunayn when the enemy pelted his hand
With a rock covering all the people with pebbles

46. And they fled with the edges of swords at their backs
Stabbing them between ribs and spine

47. And leftovers of water in a vessel spilled over
His fingers, so clear and fresh

48. He quenched with it the army of companions, satisfied
With what they drank for ablution and drinking

49. Singled out in that his message encompassed all people
Traveling like the sun from east to west

50. The vast earth was his mosque
Praying across its plains and hills alike

51. The soil of earth became pure through him
So without water one could do tayammum with dust

52. The Hijr gales supported him
And helped him defeat disbelief through awe

53. As his great message covered all people
So spread his greatest intercession to every sinner

54. He has miracles that if compared to
The rays of forenoon would pierce the clouds with gaps

55. Who can count creation or sum the counted
Or enumerate by a penetrating mind the number of stars

56. So by God deliver my greetings at dawn
When sins embark him on a difficult ship

57. Convey the longing of my heart, outstretched
While my eyes brim with roving, wandering tears

58. Repeat my greetings and ask Allah through him
To fulfill my hopes before my sun sets

59. And uncover from my heart the veil of his gifts
For the soul’s gifts are the toughest veil

60. May a breath grant me the shade of glory
And clear my watering hole so I may drink

61. That I may gain the honor to kiss his soil
And wake after remoteness a neighbor of the enclosure

62. And complain to the healer of sins which have
Wasted my body, to the knower of hearts

63. So my illnesses disappear and my anguish cools
And I attain my hopes and feel safe in my group

64. And if I die before the meeting in my agony
Then how many have died before me in their love

65. Peace be upon him whenever the morning breeze blows
And the star of light peeks from the clouds’ tears

66. Whenever a grieving one laments, a departing one leaves
Whenever a branch sways on a wet tree
