1. As though I and the meadows in his love
On the day of Siffin had stood in two ranks.
١. كَأَنّني واللَّواحِي في مَحَبَّتِهِ
فِي يَوْمِ صِفّين قَدْ قُمْنا بِصَفّيْنِ
2. How can he seek peace or agreement
When his glance between us runs with two swords?
٢. وَكَيْفَ يَطْلُبُ صُلْحاً أَو مُوَافَقَةً
وَلَحْظهُ بَيْنَنَا يَسْعى بِسَيْفينِ
