١. قَدْ قُلْتُ لَمَّا مَرَّ بِي مُعْرِضاً
كَالبَدْرِ تَحْتَ الغَسَقِ الدَّاجِي
2. Swaying wearily as he walked
With shoulders like waves crashing foam
٢. يَهْتَزُّ في مَشْيَتِهِ مُتْعَباً
مِنْ كَفَلٍ كَالمَوْجِ رَجَّاجِ
3. Woe to me for the loosening of his pants
For they are fastened with ivory
٣. وَيْلِي عَلى حَلِّ سَرَاويلِه
فإِنَّهُ شُدَّ على عَاجِ
