1. My beloved home, peace be upon you
Though deserted, still I pray, hoping you might hear my prayer

2. Would an abandoned house like you listen
Once filled with people, now empty?

3. Ruined and decayed, no dwellers left
To welcome the winds blowing through vacant halls

4. The weak and frail structure moans from the storms
That even sturdy buildings lament

5. Yet still I cling to the hope
That I might know where they've gone

6. Perhaps to Najd or Tehamah, for longing
Burns my heart to find them, wherever they be

7. Did they willingly respond when called away
Or did they reluctantly answer the summons?

8. Answer me, for this year has been long
Endless my calling, ceaseless my questioning

9. My friends left me, alone with my thoughts
In your sands when they ended their stay

10. Safe from the hellish heat of exile
Or nights with prowling beasts, I am not

11. Nor from floods that drown like an ocean
Or gales that play with me, buffeting unchecked

12. I've stopped greetings, and will spend
All my days giving you these regards

13. I'll weep for my loved ones with tears I shed
To relieve my soul, though the cost be dear

14. And ask of each bird and lightning flash
And weep for them to all I see

15. O loved ones, absence has grown long
Fatal for one like me, loyal and true

16. My patience once cooled my burning pain
But now even that patience has gone

17. Give me news to soothe my anguish
For only that can comfort me now

18. I fret the approach of death, without
God forbid what has come over you

19. I vow my eyes will water your land
Even if in this I find no home

20. I called and none have seen a caller
Striving like me, then retreating, broken

21. Faced in my goals the harshest obstacles
Withstanding all the soul's heat, persevering

22. And weathered them, until all who looked
Saw my steadfastness plain before their eyes

23. Until even the deaf were moved by my cries
And the hearts of my enemies softened for me

24. Though the nights forgot, I've not forgotten
My vows or what I still pursue

25. Nor have I, my mind empty, wandered vacant
Or closed my eyes, heedless and forgetting

26. And if I could forsake my cause
I'd rest easy, worries relieving

27. But this soul seeks lofty goals
Even if the path brings misery

28. God guided it, and it follows His command
The soul finds in God its guide

29. I looked on this world with seeing eyes
Until the veil lifted from the hidden

30. And returned crestfallen, my core nearly destroyed
Gloomy, troubled, complaining inside

31. For I saw evil in it made strong
Deep-rooted among its sons, spreading

32. So they made weakness in others an excuse
To rob them of rights once secure

33. Acting alike, bonded in sin
Though some betrayed others, ungrateful

34. They shortened the paths of life
To grasp what was distant and remote

35. Joined means only to cut off
Our lifeline, leaving us weak and frail

36. They worked steadfastly to seize our lands
No patient usurper ever failed

37. Building on the ruins of our former glory
A lofty edifice, towering and grand

38. Cut off what we hoped for, turned
The streams of bounty away from our hands

39. We were made slaves, fearful and meek
Sleepless, dreading their wrath and vengeance

40. Only bitter water they gave us to drink
Letting us stagger away unslaked

41. Their glory fills our eyes, and we yearn
For some part in us, ascending and high

42. We sleep, our hopes mere dreams
Fleeting visions by night, then gone

43. Chasing them until they disappear
No lasting trace in the world remaining

44. We mourn like mothers who've lost their only child
Finding none to comfort or console

45. This has become our habit, our affliction
Which ignorance refused to relieve

46. May God cure each nation of the likes
Still spreading through us, as is

47. But I'm not hopeless to free us from it
My hope in this remains strong and firm

48. O Sons of the East, I call you to a better way
That will return to you the joy of life anew

49. Follow the West, who copied your forebears
Until you attain the heights

50. By imitating ancestry, more rightfully yours
Than the enemies who robbed you of what was bright

51. It saddened you that moral bounds are loosed
With none from you defending and guarding

52. And laws are violated, yet we saw
No protectors rise, O Sons of the East

53. You have a sharp sword from the religion
That will defeat the enemies, when boldly drawn

54. With it, revive the Prophet's path, restore
The faith of God that has declined and faded

55. Revive it, until you regain its vigor
Lest it live parched and languishing

56. Your silence and neglect of its affairs
Are enough trial - spare me more

57. Satisfy it, walk in its way
For the world is beautiful when it is pleased

58. Then we would live in bliss and delight
Safe from enemies' harm or nights to fright
