1. Who will protect me from the tribe of Noor?
Who will shelter me from these sorrows?

2. They watched me and prevented me, yet there is naught between me and the tomb but a wall.
My heart was not satisfied with passion's corruption,

3. So I increased it with love's agony.
I see myself drinking wine only as one crying out,

4. Seeking refuge from swords in fire.
You rebuked me for passion, O my tormentor, after

5. Pride in virtue and arrogance.
Hateful to me is my life after you turned

6. Away from me, embittered me, and defamed me.
Assure me of hearing news of my people

7. After my death from the calamity of poems.
Now I drink poison by choice and throw myself under the train,

8. Scornful of all who thought my agony a disgrace.
I do not fling life away lightly,

9. Like talk of my temptation and suicide.
The next life is more right and lasting

10. After the pardon of the Forgiving Protector.
Lord, I cannot resist what You decree,

11. So grant me patience for what is determined.
