1. O governors of the nation's affairs
And its most faithful noble ones

2. You have attained glory - did you find it just
As loved ones' covenant and loyalty?

3. And proof of acceptance and purity of intents
For what power you possess

4. You gained reward before judgment
And more to come in abundance after

5. The virtuous reformer alone deserves
Exalted names and titles

6. A ruler's welcome cannot distract
Those with enlightened minds and spirits

7. Soldiers’ supplies cannot protect a nation
Only the wisdom of intellectual minds

8. He who seeks advancement through popularity
Must have sound judgment as his rule

9. Each individual has a share - but where is
Justice between parties and factions?

10. Where is the trait of preference by merit
And care for the weak and infirm?

11. And a young man's admission of a brother's right
And acceptance of judgment amidst anger?

12. How can I not warn against elections when
The way of the nation was any election?

13. They busied their home with their war
After the truce from fighting

14. They turned hostile as if secure
While it lurks at the gates

15. I wish this conflict was but reproach
To see reconciliation after blame

16. And healing hearts from this discord
Is better than freeing those necks

17. The weapon of proof for the free
Is better in disputes than insults

18. Forbidden is the sweet drink
When people's blood is shed around it

19. Among political wisdom is
Relieving it of the load of amateurs

20. The reward of youth is to value
What its army of youth desired

21. Oh my people, where is knowing my people?
My call amongst them and the pure book

22. They ignored me, so I know not if I was
Among their presences or their absentees

23. They prolonged tormenting my soul amongst them
And tormenting souls is the worst torment

24. And the debtor abandoned me for my manners
And pedigree and all calculations

25. And feared it said he favors
But who favors the fair benefactor?

26. I want neither for myself nor my family
To gain riches from belongings

27. Never did I accept the place of slaves
Or attain the status of lords

28. If men were but wolves
I would find loyalty among wolves

29. If they cooperated and allied
With my teachings, that would be my reward
