1. The companions called for departure and left,
Companions sick with sorrows after them.

2. They roam with tearful eyes in the valley of worries,
And did not get used to rest or sleep there.

3. They find in their homelands the gloom of separation,
And left behind no sky or land there.

4. They never knew a day when they needed people,
And never carried any hatred towards anyone.

5. Whoever protected his poetry and rhetoric
Keeping his dignity and honor intact.

6. Could not elevate whom they put down,
By decree, nor humble those they raised.

7. If they saw no justice in giving and withholding,
It was best they controlled both giving and withholding.

8. Come brother, today witness their mention,
Your loyalty, sincerity, and refined manners.

9. You passed away and the soil wasted you, leaving them
On earth, its events wearing them down.

10. They were free except for their pledge to return
To your pure, passionate, pulsing body.

11. They spent the night not finding any neighbor
With kindness, nor generosity in good company.

12. The past mourning is for you, and has become a season,
So whose responsibility is it to observe, and whose duty to fulfill?

13. Every soul has taken from you a noble whisper
That has settled into it, your length and breadth.

14. In these moments, for all time,
And your eternity, what the place comprised and what it left out.

15. And each seeks in your intimacy his consolation
With what he confided in you and what he disclosed.

16. Resurrection is only that we see for you brothers
Who fulfill the trust and duty to you.

17. Come see man attacking
His own kind with insults and abuse.

18. In the life of this world, with his right hand
He seeks to destroy what with his left hand he built.

19. You endured the fire of turmoil and its blades
Yet could not wound or content yourself.

20. You protest what you endure and race after it
But the people did not hear the protest or the racing.

21. Had you cried out atop an impregnable fortress
The impregnable fortress would have collapsed and crumbled.

22. You suffered deprivation and overlooked excuses
And the best expert in excuses is one who overlooks.

23. You were innocent of doubt in every situation
Yet did not find acceptance or rejection from me.

24. Had any poet but you tasted
What you tasted, he would dictate no book nor line.

25. Never in your life were you pleased with me
Will you find in your death what satisfies you?

26. Your treatment of me was a debt, and I
Repay it with my tears and blood.

27. It is enough that I take from your legacy
The equipment of the free author and pure lineage.
